At Posidonia 2026 in Athens, Greece, Clementine Mathieu, global product manager, sustainability and Bert Adema, business development manager, electrostatic application, EMEA, joined Seatrade Maritime to discuss the growing roles of coatings and coating application methods in improving vessel efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
During the interview, Mathieu and Adema highlighted PPG's approach to sustainability through both "Inside the Can" and "Outside the Can" innovation. They explained how advanced coatings such as Sigmaglide® 2390, combined with application methods such as electrostatic application, help shipowners lower fuel consumption, reduce emissions and minimize overspray during application.
The discussion also explored how coating selection and application practices can contribute to operational efficiency, supporting the maritime industry's efforts to meet evolving sustainability goals while maximizing asset performance throughout a vessel's service life.
