PPG employee volunteers completed a colorful and transformative makeover at Binhai TEDA Primary School in Tianjin, China as part of the 10-year celebration of the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program.
The project brought together 100 volunteers from PPG’s Tianjin facility and Global Coatings Innovation Center to revitalize the school’s sunshine hall, library, gym and other areas at Binhai TEDA through a colorful makeover and murals,. Our volunteers also delivered a creative and imaginative art class that inspired aesthetic exploration.
“Over the past decade, the Colorful Communities program has consistently responded to local concerns by bringing notable changes to different communities,” said Michael Fu, director of PPG Tianjin Facility. “At Binhai TEDA Primary School, the synergy of colors, technology and public welfare is expected to deliver a more inspiring space for the children.”
The volunteers created murals with the themes of Ocean and Exploration, including a color palette of Ocean Blue, Coral Silk, and Forest Green to integrate nature, technology and imagination. One mural, for instance, depicts a scene where children are hand in hand running towards the future. Meanwhile, the murals in the library created an immersive reading space for the students with a serene forest atmosphere.
“We thank PPG very much for its great support in beautifying our school campus,” said Gao Feng, Principal of Binhai TEDA Primary School Affiliated to Tianjin Academy of Educational Science. “The Colorful Communities project aimed to refurbish the buildings to create a colorful and beautiful space for our students, and arouse their curiosity and desire to explore things, opening for them the door to imagination in the world of nature and knowledge. We have every reason to believe that such a warm public welfare action will constantly stimulate the school's educational vitality and help enable Binhai to reach a new level of education.”
The project is one of 10 flagship projects around the world that are serving as pillars in the 10-year celebration.
“As we recognize 10 years of the Colorful Communities program and the meaningful ways it has blended the best of who we are - our passionate, talented employees and our innovative products – to improve where we live and work, we look forward to 10 more years of protecting and beautifying these special places and giving employees a meaningful way to give back,” said Cathy Yan, PPG General Manager, Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, Asia Pacific.
